As fans continue to experience the Minecraft Movie in droves, some are leaving the theaters wondering if there is still more to this blocky story than we currently know. So, today, we explore just that and answer, “Will There Be a Minecraft Movie Sequel?”
Mojang and Warner Bros. Entertainment have sadly made no confirmation that there will be a Minecraft Movie sequel. However, there are plenty of reasons to believe that we will see “A Minecraft Movie 2” or “Another Minecraft Movie” at some point in the foreseeable future.
The largest and most direct hint of this comes from A Minecraft Movie itself following the end credits. Spoilers ahead, but Steve, upon returning to Earth, heads to his former home now owned by someone else. The film then ends with that person revealing they are none other than Alex, the second playable character added to Minecraft.
While such an appearance could very well be chalked up to another Easter Egg, it seems odd that they would include such a demanded character’s reveal last second and not show their face if not to suggest there is more to come. Additionally, Minecraft’s final boss, the Ender Dragon, has not been explored and makes for a perfect reason for the cast to return.
How interesting would it be if someone with evil intentions found themself in the Overworld and opened a portal to The End, setting themself up as the next antagonist?
