Terraria Zoologist NPC Guide: How to Invite, Items Sold, & More

Posted on by justin
Different NPCs fill the world of Terraria with color and make it more alive. The Zoologist, in particular, brushes her mane as she provides valuable items to players, especially those who don’t mind parting with some coins in exchange for items. Although a cursed lycanthrope, she has a passion for all things wild. With that, find out how to invite the Zoologist NPC into your Terraria town as you continue reading this guide.

How to Invite the Zoologist in Terraria?

Terraria Zoologist Introduced in Patch 1.4.0.1, the Zoologist NPC will only move to your town or village if the following conditions are met:
  • The Bestiary has at least 54 entries, and
  • An empty, movable house exists
Note: A movable house consists of a light source, a comfort item, and a piece of furniture with a flat surface. The space should also be at least 3 tiles wide and 10 tiles high (excluding the ceiling, floor, and walls). Like other NPCs in Terraria, it’s possible to place the Zoologist in Shimmer. Doing so will change her appearance, but this alteration won’t affect her stats or sold items.

What Items Does the Zoologist Sell in Terraria?

Terraria Zoologist Shop Remember, various factors affect the prices of the items the Zoologist sells. One element is the NPC’s happiness, which is a hidden mechanic based on whether she likes her neighbors or not. With that, the Zoologist loves to be near the Witch Doctor and likes to have the Princess and the Golfer NPCs nearby. However, she dislikes the Angler and even hates the Arms Dealer. Players can also wear specific accessories to reduce costs when buying items from the Zoologist in Terraria. Some notable examples include the Discount Card and Greedy Ring.
