Terraria Warmth Potion Farming Guide: Location, Uses, & More

How to Get the Warmth Potion in Terraria

Introduced in Patch 1.2.4, Terraria players can farm the Warmth Potion by crafting near an Alchemy Table or a Placed Bottle. The crafting ingredients for this consumable item are as follows:

• 1x Bottled Water
• 1x Frost Minnow
• 1x Shiverthorn

Players can fish the Frost Minnow in the ponds and lakes in the Snow biome. You can also find Shiverthorn in the same biome and in any layer, making farming for materials for the Warmth Potion in Terraria reasonably easy.

Warmth Potion Usage

As its name implies, consuming the Warmth Potion in Terraria grants the user the Warmth buff. This beneficial effect reduces damage from various cold sources for 15 minutes. Although the in-game tooltip is quite vague, this effect reduces damage inflicted by certain enemies, particularly those in the Snow biome, including the following:

• Deerclops
• Flocko
• Ice Bat
• Ice Elemental
• Ice Golem
• Ice Mimic
• Ice Queen
• Ice Slime
• Ice Tortoise
• Ice Merman
• Mister Stabby
• Snow Balla
• Snow Flinx
• Snowman Gangsta
• Spiked Ice Slime
• Yeti

Note that the effect of the Warmth Potion doesn’t apply to ice attacks from other players in PvP combat. However, players can stack the damage reduction effect of this consumable with the Endurance Potion, resulting in a 37% damage loss from enemy attacks. It should also be mentioned that the Frozen Zombies spawning in the Surface Snow biome at night will still deal full damage despite the Warmth buff being active. Nonetheless, consuming the Warmth Potion can be ideal before challenging certain events, particularly the Frost Legion and Frost Moon invasions.
