Terraria Stress Ball Guide: How to Get & Use

Posted on by justin
Back on August 25, 2023, Andrew “Redigit” Spinks, creator and lead developer of Terraria, teased an accessory to help make players’ item farming life easier. That accessory is the Stress Ball, and it’s now in the game, thanks to the Bold & Boulder Update. So, if you’re wondering how to get the Stress Ball in Terraria, look no further than this guide!

How to Get the Stress Ball in Terraria

Terraria Stress Ball The only way to get the Stress Ball accessory in Terraria 1.4.5 is by defeating a Hoplite, hoping that it drops from the fallen foe. This item, in particular, has a low drop rate. In fact, the Stress Ball is the rarest loot from the Hoplite. So, search for the Marble Caves in the Cavern layer, as this sub-biome is the only place in a vanilla map where the Hoplite spawns naturally. Alternatively, search for a Hoplite Statue and connect it to a Pressure Plate. Step on the plate to spawn a Hoplite, kill it, and, again, hope that a Stress Ball appears. Alternatively, travel to another world seed that already has a Marble Cave. Do so to significantly reduce the time and effort required to search for this sub-biome. Another way is to hop into a multiplayer Terraria server and request help from online friends to aid you in your hunt for this elusive accessory.

How to Use the Stress Ball in Terraria

Hovering your mouse over the Stress Ball shows the following tooltip: “Continuously use some items when not moving. Not functional when inventory is open.” In other words, it automatically uses the highlighted item on your hotbar without the need to continuously press and hold the Use/Attack button. This accessory is a must-have for AFK farming. Some notable examples of farmable items with the help of the Stress Ball include Obsidian, Rod of Discord, and wood from trees. Note that you must build a structure that allows continuous movement and spawning of entities to make optimal use of the Stress Ball in Terraria.
