Terraria: How to Get the Gravitation Potion

Posted on by justin
Harness rare botanical crafting materials to create a concoction that defines one of the fundamental laws of nature: gravity. Known as the Gravitation Potion in Terraria, it temporarily inverts the world’s gravity, transforming the rules of exploration and combat. Continue reading this guide to learn how to get and use this potion, so you can find hidden areas and create tactical advantages against formidable foes.

How to Get the Gravitation Potion in Terraria

Terraria Gravitation Potion Introduced in patch 1.0.5, players can craft the Gravitation Potion near a Placed Bottle or Alchemy Table using the following ingredients:
  • 1x Bottled Water
  • 1x Fireblossom
  • 1x Deathweed
  • 1x Blinkroot
  • 1x Feather
Get Bottled Water by using an empty bottle near a sink or body of water. As for the Fireblossom, find it on Ash Blocks in the Underworld layer. Deathweed is found in either Corrupt or Crimson Grass. Alternatively, you may find a Deathweed during a Blood or Full Moon. Then, find Blinkroot on Dirt or Mud blocks in the Underground layer. Finally, defeat the Harpies flying near the Floating Islands to get Feathers. Note: Windows phones and Nintendo 3DS users can also get Feathers by defeating the unique boss, Turkor the Ungrateful.

How to Use Gravitation Potions in Terraria

Terraria Gravitation Potion Use Using the Gravitation Potion in Terraria grants the “Gravitation” buff for 3 minutes. Press the Up keyboard key (by default) to invert gravity. The screen appears upside-down when the effect activates, letting the user fall upwards and walk on top of ceilings. Right-click on the buff’s icon to cancel its effect early. Taking advantage of the effects of the Gravitation Potion can lead to promising results. For starters, use it on the surface layer to find Floating Islands. It’s also an ideal strategy to use against the Wall of Flesh, since you’ll be safely walking on the ceiling instead of dodging and jumping over lava. However, there are certain aspects of the Gravitation Potion that players should consider:
  • Flipping gravity doesn’t negate fall damage, nor does it reset the fall distance.
  • Dying is possible if the player “falls” into the underside of a Floating Island when gravity is flipped.
  • Walking effects from buffs and worn armor won’t be flipped.
