How to Get the Ancient Seed in Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley Ancient Seed Note: Image courtesy of Games on Easy Mode. Not to be confused with the pack of Ancient Seeds, the Ancient Seed can be acquired as early as the beginning of the game, if you’re lucky. Nonetheless, this item can appear from different sources. For instance, it’s possible to forage this artifact from specific spots in the mountain and Cindersap Forest areas. On the other hand, certain monsters in Stardew Valley can drop Ancient Seeds, especially those in the Mines and Skull Cavern dungeons. The specific monsters to hunt for Ancient Seeds are the following:
  • Bug
  • Cave Fly
  • Grub
  • Mutant Fly
  • Mutant Grub
Other containers that may contain Ancient Seeds are Artifact Troves and Fishing Treasure Chests. Cutting foliage in the Volcano Dungeon may also make this artifact appear. Placing a packet of Ancient Seeds in a Deconstructor yields 1x Ancient Seed, which is also the least efficient way of using this item. Despite this inefficient method, placing Ancient Seeds into the Deconstructor guarantees that you’ll get an Ancient Seed, eliminating the grind involved in finding it to help you complete the Museum’s collection.

What to do with Ancient Seeds in Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley Ancient Seed Use Note: Image courtesy of Games on Easy Mode. One practical use of the Ancient Seed artifact in Stardew Valley is to donate it to the Museum. However, Gunther, the NPC who operates the Archaeological Center in Stardew Valley, will give you 1x Ancient Seeds to plant in your farm upon donating 1x Ancient Seed. The NPC will also give you the recipe for Ancient Seeds, which you can craft using 1x Ancient Seed per pack. Tip: Plating Ancient Seeds allows them to mature into Ancient Fruits, which grow through Spring, Summer, and Fall. The Ancient Seed is also a liked gift for two Stardew Valley NPCs: Penny and the Dwarf. Other Pelican Town residents dislike this artifact, and giving it to them lowers their friendship levels. Otherwise, as of Update 1.4, use an Ancient Seed in the Sewing Machine to craft the Brown Suit cosmetic item.
