Once Human Sonivore Guide: Locations, How to Defeat, & More

Posted on by justin
While most enemies in Once Human fall before explosive firepower, the Sonivore stands in the face of destructive power and laughs. This gelatinous creature is near-indestructible, and it turns sound into a weapon. Unprepared Meta-Humans may find themselves in its slimy grasp if they’re not careful. So, here’s what you should know about Sonivore in Once Human, and how to deal with it properly.

What is the Sonivore in Once Human?

Once Human Sonivore Introduced in Version 2.3.1, the Sonivore in Once Human is a Stardust-mutated creature originally formed from nanoscale magnetic particles and Black Water. Its mature body consists of a strange gel surrounding a dark magnetic-fluid core. Its unsettling appearance invites curiosity and doom to any unprepared Meta-Human.

Sonivore Locations in Once Human

Once Human players can find Sonivores throughout different maps. However, these blob-like creatures are particularly notorious for being near Rosetta supply storage boxes and other high-value areas. That means players should watch out when visiting their usual looting spots, as a Sonivore or two might be lurking near their favorite loot boxes.

How to Defeat the Sonivore (Tips & Tricks)

Despite not having eyes, the Sonivore in Once Human is an audio-reactive enemy. In other words, it reacts to sound, but it behaves differently depending on the audio it hears. Some of the basic reactions of Sonivores, and how to respond to them, are as follows:
  • If the Sonivore hears footsteps, it approaches slowly.
  • If the Sonivore hears gunfire, it hastens its approach.
  • If the Sonivore hears explosions, it speeds up its movement further.
Once near enough, the Sonivore captures the player in its gooey grasp. If caught, your health depletes slowly until you can escape by moving continuously while inside. Originally, it’s impossible to defeat the Sonivore. However, a May 2026 combat adjustment update allowed players to damage the creature. Even still, it can’t be defeated. Nonetheless, it’s possible to stun it for a quick escape, or until you can grab the loot near the storage container it guards. With that, avoiding the Sonivore is still the smarter strategy than facing it head-on. Additionally, crouching lets you move quietly around the creature, and ensuring your deviations aren't aggressive increases your survival chances. Finally, use ammunition and explosives only when absolutely necessary.
