What's New in the Minecraft 26.2 Chaos Cubed Update?

Sulfur Caves

Minecraft Sulfur Caves Biome Screenshot
  • Location: Overworld
Located mostly underground in the overworld and very rarely on the surface, this brand-new biome is home to red cinnabar and yellow sulfur blocks, hot springs that emit toxic gas, and erupting geysers. The toxic gas induces the nausea status effect on players, and geysers can erupt with steam, launching anything inside. Sulfur blocks and cinnabar blocks also come with complete stone block sets for building.

Sulfur Cubes

  • Location: Sulfur Caves Biome
Sulfur cubes are a new passive mob exclusive to the sulfur caves biome that hop about, paying no mind to those in its surroundings. However, hidden within its cute display is one of the most in-depth mobs ever added to Minecraft. Sulfur cubes can absorb any block players give to them, and doing so puts the sulfur cube in an unmoving, damage-immune state, where players can hit them around like a ball. The block absorbed determines the type of “ball” that the sulfur cube gains the properties of, with blocks like wool making it a beach ball and ice making it slippery like a hockey puck. Where the slime is hit, and the damage dealt determines the direction and distance the sulfur cube will travel in this state.

Geysers

  • Location: Overworld (Any Surface Biome) & Sulfur Caves Biome
Geysers are a new type of world generation found in sulfur caves and across the overworld. Those found in the overworld indicate a sulfur caves biome is somewhere below, much like azalea trees with lush cave biomes. All geysers erupt with steam on a random but short cooldown and launch any players, mobs, or items inside up into the sky. They also have four levels of power determined by how they are built. We offer a guide for geyser construction found here.

Java Friends List

  • Location: Main Menu
Java Edition Players are getting a special bonus this update! After loading into Minecraft 26.2, Java Edition players will now see a new row of three buttons above “Options.” The first of the three, depicting the heads of Steve and Alex, opens the new Java friends list. Inside, new friends can be added, online status can be set, and peer to peer connections can be made.
