That's right! After the official cancellation of Hytale in June 2025, a sandbox RPG that had been in development since 2015, it's finally back on the roadmap after being re-acquired from Riot Games! With that, here's all the latest news on Hytale in 2025, including its release date, early access window, platforms, funding, staff, and more!

Hytale 2025 News: Everything We Know So Far

After being officially cancelled in June earlier this year, Hytale is back to active development after being re-acquired from Riot Games, announced by the Hytale team on November 17th, 2025! Here's everything we know about the project's return so far.

Hytale Release Date & Early Access (The Game is Back!)

After promises for info coming soon, we finally have an official Hytale release date for early access! Hytale will be released in early access on January 13, 2025. Preorders for the game's three editions are available from December 13, 2025, though more info on the preorder process, early support rewards, and name reservation is still to come.

Hytale Game Modes & Platforms

Hytale will launch with an Exploration Mode, Creative Mode, and modding, according to the team announcement. Further down the line from launch, players can also expect minigames and adventure mode, with a "...dedicated team for minigames." The game will initially launch on Windows, though "Linux/Mac will be attempted, other platforms much later," according to the team's official announcement.

Hytale Editions and Prices

Hytale’s various editions and their respective prices have been revealed from a recent post on the game’s official X/Twitter account! These amount to the following options:

• Standard: $19.99
• Supporter: $34.99
• Cursebreaker (Founder’s Pack): $69.99

The Supporter and Founder’s Pack will have exclusive cosmetic items, such as capes and hats. However, it’s unclear if there are bonuses when pre-ordering Hytale’s standard edition. Nonetheless, we’ll update here with the latest info when we get it, so make sure to stay tuned!

The Development Team for Hytale & Future Funding

The new Hytale team includes over 30 developers returning to the project, and a leadership team including the following:

• Simon Collins-Laflamme - Co-Founder
• Philippe Touchette - Co-Founder
• Kevin Carstens - Technical Lead
• Patrick Derbic - Management Lead

In the re-acquisition, Hytale wasn't actually purchased by a new publisher or investor. Instead, the game's co-founders have come together to pledge funding for the project for 10 years. This will mean the studio is independent of publisher constraints, allowing it to be more expressive and creative with the game's development.
