That's right! After the official cancellation of Hytale in June 2025, a sandbox RPG that had been in development since 2015, it's finally back on the roadmap after being re-acquired from Riot Games! With that, here's all the latest news on Hytale in 2025, including its release date, early access window, platforms, funding, staff, and more!

Hytale 2025 News: Everything We Know So Far

After the official cancellation in June earlier this year, Hytale is already back to active development following its re-acquisition from Riot Games. This was announced by Simon, Hypixel’s founder, and the Hytale team on November 17, 2025! Since then, many details have been revealed, which we have divided into various sections found below.

Hytale Release Date & Early Access (The Game is Back!)

After promises for info coming soon, we finally have an official Hytale release date for early access! Hytale will be released in early access on January 13, 2025. Preorders for the game's three editions are available now as of December 13, 2025, and you can learn all about the preorder process here.

Hytale Game Modes & Platforms

Hytale will launch with Exploration Mode (survival), Creative Mode, and extensive mod support, according to the team announcement. Further down the line from launch, players can also expect minigames and Adventure Mode, with a “dedicated team for minigames.” The game will initially launch on Windows, though Linux and Mac support are already well underway. Other platforms will not be until much, much later, however.

Hytale Model Making Tool (What is Blockbench?)

In preparation for the upcoming release, a Hytale modding tool has already gone live! Mod creators and fans alike can access the model-making tool called Blockbench through the download on the official Hytale blog regarding the subject, here. Even if not making or modifying models, the tool serves as a way to gain a sneak peek at the content we will soon see in-game.

The Development Team for Hytale & Future Funding

The new Hytale team includes over 30 developers returning to the project, and a leadership team including the following:

In the re-acquisition, Hytale wasn't actually purchased by a new publisher or investor. Instead, the game's co-founders have come together to pledge funding for the project for 10 years. This will mean the studio is independent of publisher constraints, allowing it to be more expressive and creative with the game's development.
