In celebration of Mounts of Mayhem, a new limited-time cape has been made available to players, but it requires completing a challenge that may be deceptively hard for some fans. So, today, we answer how to get the Minecraft zombie horse cape.

How to Get the Minecraft Zombie Horse Cape

From December 12, 2025, at 8:00 AM PT, to December 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM PT, players can earn a brand-new zombie horse cape by defeating five mobs with a spear in Bedrock Edition survival mode. Additionally, should the community as a whole spawn more than 75 million zombie horses during the duration of the event, a zombie horse onesie creator item for Bedrock Edition and zombie horse onesie skin for Java Edition will be awarded as well. Delivery for the rewards can take up to thirty days after completing the challenge.

1. Log In to Minecraft Bedrock Edition
2. Open or Create a Survival World
3. Craft a Spear
4. Defeat Five Mobs with the Spear

Challenge 2: Zombie Horse Onesie

Participation in This Challenge Is Not Required to Claim the Onesie Reward

2. Open or Create a Creative World
3. Spawn Zombie Horses from Spawn Eggs

Can the Cape Be Earned in Java Edition?

The Minecraft zombie horse cape challenge must be completed within Bedrock Edition. However, earning it for Bedrock Edition earns it for the Java Edition account under the same Microsoft account as well. Mojang has historically included an alternative method for obtaining cape rewards, such as watch quests, but that does not appear to be the case this time. It is not yet clear if this is a one-off occurrence or the new normal for cape rewards going forward. But should a new method be added by Mojang, we will have it listed here.
