How To Make A Splint In DayZ

Posted on by justin
Did you jump from a tall structure in DayZ to escape the undead? Perhaps another player shot your leg for kicks (no pun intended). Either way, these incidents can cause fractures in DayZ. Thankfully, you can craft and use a splint in DayZ for this injury, and we’re here to guide you through the process.

How to Make a Splint in DayZ

DayZ Splint Crafting a splint in DayZ has three different recipes, which are the following:
  • 4x Rags
  • 3x Wooden Stick
OR
  • 1x 100% Bandage
  • 3x Wooden Stick
OR
  • 1x 10% Duct Tape
  • 3x Wooden Stick
Note: Rags and bandages must be cleaned before combining them with sticks to craft splints. Using dirty rags or bandages when crafting splints may cause wound infections when used. Once crafted, the Splint item will take up eight slots (2x4 tiles) in your inventory. It’s also important to mention that 1x Splint has a weight of 540g (1.19lb) and 30% absorbency.

Using the Splint

After crafting a clean splint, you can apply it to a broken or fractured limb. The first step is to find a safe spot to apply the splint. Perhaps the last thing you’d want at this point is for a zombie or another player to jump you while you’re dressing the wound. Note: The Broken Bone icon will be visible on the HUD if your DayZ character has a fracture. Next, open your inventory and place the splint in your hands. Hold the Action or Use button for 10 seconds. Remember to wait until the circle on the screen completes one revolution. Tip: You can let go of the button if you must run quickly. Once applied, the splint will heal the fracture for about 20 minutes. Remember, you still can’t run or jump during this period. Also, avoid undead hunting during this time, especially at night. However, you can climb over relatively small structures, such as low ledges and garden fences. It can also be a great move to relax and catch fish or get your heat buff by a fire for the time being, since you won’t move much until your wound heals. Note: A splint isn’t necessary to heal a fracture, but it takes at least 34 minutes for the injury to heal without one, even with maximum health, blood, energy, and hydration.
